A hypothetical question for you;
Imagine you are single and you have a blog.
You meet someone new and start a relationship with him or her.
Do you tell them you have a blog or do you keep it secret?
We all know that once someone close to you finds out you have a blog they want to read it, so would you say “oh yeah feel free” and think “anything really embarrassing and personal was done friends only so that’s fine” or would you want to keep your jottings to yourself.
Hmmmm?

Pro I would LOVE to direct them to my blog. So I don't have to wait until later for them to realise what a mad batty old hag I am. It's all there, black on white, forever suspended in cyberspace. Job done, they can run faster and sooner. xLux

Pro I don't see why you'd have a problem with it. Any relationship that involves hiding stuff from your partner from the start is on rocky ground from the start. Show it to them and they can learn about you. Hide it, and what does that say about you?

Pro I'd tell them and did. I did think about keeping the other me private but decided that it could cause problems later if I didn't. I did wait a little while before I did though. Only if you get along really well and things progress.
Did that make sense?
I'd eventually tell him as he would want to know what I was doing on the computer the whole time. x

I told my Girlfriend about it but no specifics. She thinks there stupid anyways, so no worries. If she did want to read it I would say no for right now.

Naturally, Mrs H knows about mine and she doesn't understand any of it. She only got annoyed about the marriage proposal I received (as a comment) some years ago.
As my blog is fairly risque and candid, I thought it better to let the Lady Stardust know.

I think I agree with Louisa - it's not exactly 1st date material. If it seems like it's turning into a serious relationship then you'd need to tell them to avoid 'hiding' stuff. That would give you a chance to go through and do any editing etc as well. But if it's just 'dating' then I don't think I'd mention the blog until I was confident in the level of trust and rapport. Your blog's quite honest and personal so you don't want anyone psychoanalysing you in those paranoid early days of a relationship.

And anything that personal would be friends only so I don't think I would have a problem with "them" knowing about it.
But then you would get "why have you not mentioned us?"

Blog was one of the few ways that Parsley & I could communicate when we first got together, so he used to do lots of posts with secret messages hidden within them that only I would get, but our circumstances were slightly different I suppose!
New relationships are a great buzz (I understand it's hypothetical) but you do spend hours analysing every single word the other person says (well girls do anyway) so that's why I say hold off for a bit. When you can burp in front of the other person I think it's safe to come clean about the blog

But sharing too much too soon with people is a bad idea.

I told my ex about my blog, but didn't tell him the details and write under a pseudonym, so I told him good luck actually finding it. If he //had// have found it though, I'd've been single a lot quicker!
