I need cheering up.

This might do it.

Ya put ya left leg in!

Pasta soup.

by Old-Nick @ 2007-11-14 - 20:18:25

I have not made this in years but did a bowl of it for myself tonight.

Take a veg stock cube and bung it in a pan, add boiling water and turn on the gas. Chop a small onion and as many galic cloves as you fancy and add them to the stock. Add salt and black pepper to taste and bring to the boil. Grate some fresh parmesan cheese while it boils.

Add some tortelloni (the stuffed pasta - spinach and ricotta is good for this) and add to the water. Simmer for a few minutes if it is the fresh sort, longer if it is dried (check the pack for cooking times)

When done lift the pasta out into a high sided bowl with a slotted spoon and add as much of the onion and garlic as you want, pour the stock over this and add the cheese.

Yummy and dirt cheap and cooked and prepared in 30 mins.

A book at bedtime.

by Old-Nick @ 2007-11-14 - 15:57:08

Well not bedtime, but "I have got to the end of that boring file and checked it against the finance system and am not not inclined to do any more work today" time.

So excuse me while I sit at my nice warm desk and read the last couple of chapters of "Making Money", which if you didn't know is the latest Disc World novel.

Master of his universe.

by Old-Nick @ 2007-11-14 - 14:02:58

Staning outside having a ciggie, my attention was caught by one of the high visability jacketed bods working on the building site next door.

His sole job is to look after the traffic cones that block off the bus lane and stop traffic with a "stop/go" board when a truck is pulling out of or onto the site.

He wandered along to the four cones that run diagonally across the bus lane to move cars out of said lane, and re-allinged each one of them into a slightly more evenly space group. THEN when reaching the fourth cone he turned back and picked them all up one after the other and replaced them in EXACTLY the same spot.

Satisfied with a job well done, he went back into the sight.

And I thought my job was dull.

At war with technology

by Old-Nick @ 2007-11-14 - 12:26:20

It is going to be one of those days.

For the first part of this morning I could access my emails but not get on here.

NOW, I can get on here but can't access my emails.

I may just have to do some work!

Phantom texts, an apology and glitchyness of this site

by Old-Nick @ 2007-11-14 - 09:26:37

Yesterday evening after work I was laying in a darkened room trying not to listen to the cats fighting about the issue of incest up and down the stairs as I attempted to get a quick hours sleep. I needed to shake off the bone deep fatigue that had settled on me like a blue nylon Parka of kippyness on the way home.

The darkness of said room was lit up by my phone going bing bong and doing its impression of one of the ufo's from Close Encounters of The Third Kind. Looking at the screen it said I had a text. Opening the phone and going to the inbox showed only one text, already read, the one in fact that has been there for months.

So where did this message go? Who was it from? would they try again? was it important? Was it from someone I reeeeely want to hear from? Bugger! Trapped in this little loop of paranoid thoughts and worry I feel asleep and promptly had a nightmare about not being able to get my sim card to work in any number of mobile phones and being desparate to talk to someone but completly unable to. Nice.

And the apology. Over a hundred comments on a post I did yesterday, and all of them smut and filth. Not that I am ashamed of it - it was a damn good laugh and thank you to my fellow smut spreaders - but if that was someones first encounter with my blog it may give them the wrong impression. Or the right one, who knows.

Furthermore and in fact also, this site is being a bit odd this morning. I keep getting texty dull pages when trying to look at other peoples blogs. What is that all about then eh!

anyway, 'morning.
