The Chalice Well at Glastonbury

The Chalice well

The lions head, where the Red sping first comes out. The red colour is due to the iron deposits. It rises in the well pictured above.

after rising at the well and flowing out through the lions head, the water cascades down into Arthurs court.

Our first stop of the weekend was at Avebury, which is in a circle of big staning stones.

A Petrified witch?

Our last stop was in Bath.

EDIT - Mrs F has asked for some piccs of the White Spring.

The White Spring

The White spring rises next to the one in the Chalice Well garden, which is known as the red spring as well. The white spring building is just over a small road and is in a very dark candle lit building, with the water running in channels around the foot of the walls and across the floor. It has the atmosphere of a squat, but friendly and with out the heroin addicts knodding out all over the place. I liked it.

Enough for now, sure your all sick of me and my camera.

Time for bed.

Getting High (good album cover?)

by Old-Nick @ 2007-04-29 - 21:25:47

This weekend I found myself in the Black Shuck (Jo's Focus) heading down to Avebury, Glastonbury and Bath along with The powder Monkey (Sarah) Jo, Shipscook and Mrs F. The picture below was taken half way up Glastonbury Tor, and if you think it looks steep and high in the picture think about this - we are only just over half way up and the reeeely steep bit is behind us. I think it looks like some sort of Pink Floyd/hypgonsis album cover.

Glastonbury Tor

Sarah, Jo, Mrs F and I got to the top (Shipscook parked himself on a bench at the foot of the hill and declared himself "basecamp") with Sarah and I coming joint first. And I was pleased that I was not too out of breath considering I had to keep up with a 7 year old part mountain goat and I smoke too much and am 44. Yayy old meeee! The view from the top was great and you can get some idea how high we were form this

The view from the top

After taking in the fantastic view and getting our breath back, Sarah took off down the Tor like a rocket with Mrs F in persuit. Jo and I followed on and I took this over my shoulder just before the realy steep stuff started again.

Coming down?

Prior to all this up and down malarky we had been getting all spirtualy and the like in the Chalice well gardens (beautiful and peaceful) before heading to bath. Our first stop of the day was in Avebury, a Village within an ancient stone circle. Where we witnessed a sheep that went Moooo, not Bah. Seriously freaky kiddies and no - I was not drunk. The crew of the Black Shuck were with me and all heard it as well. More another time, just going to have a wee snort of Blackcurrant Rum - one of the best things they sell at Avebury.

Later!
