As I was bored crapless this afternoon I decided to do something about the overgrown state of our little pond. At this time of year I hoik out a load of weed that has grown over the winter to let the fish have a bit more room to swim about in.
I normally decide to do it just as the frogs and toads decide to start shagging and spawning all over the weeds. Dirty swines! Anyway they did this back in March and now its safe to deforest the water.
The water level was also very low so I topped that up. I think this is mainly due to evaporation but the fact that the local foxes use the pond like a bar don't help.
So I did all that and when the sediment had settled back down I had a look at the fish swiming around and the newts displaying there mating colours off to the lady newts. Romance under water, ah how sweet. Still it will just lead to more shagging in my pond! And the fish are no better behaved. All of the 7 or so fish in there have been born in the pond from fish that were born in there before them. I think you'd have to go back about 6 generations to get to "shop baught" fish.
And due to being up so late last night on MSN and here I am totally knackered and will need an early night tonight.
We have just ordered the Indian take-away for our dinner and after that I think I will pass out!
Or just let the gas out anyway, and watch Jo and Sarah pass out.
